Five Alive Music Group
The music group was founded in 1993 to provide contemporary music for the weekly 4:30pm Mass. Our music covers a wide range of composers and style and we sing in a variety of languages representative of the congregation at the five o’clock Mass. Singers, pianists, guitarists, wind, brass and percussion players are welcome to join. Rehearsals precede the Mass on Sunday afternoons at 3:30pm.
For further details please contact Joe Caprani or Ray Cliff via the Parish Office.
Applications are always welcome for the Junior Choir (ages 7-12). Since being founded in 2015, the Junior Choir has sung the Office of Vespers for Advent Sunday and the Christmas Vigil Mass.
The Song School of Our Lady and the English Martyrs is a Junior Choir programme that trains young singers to become lifelong musicians. Development of vocal technique, musicianship, and teamwork builds skills that will enrich the lives of choristers and the community for generations. The Choristers are under the direction of professional singer and teacher, Julia Caddick.
Young singers emerge from the Song School programme with a deep love for the arts, enhanced self-confidence, and an ability to work collaboratively. In a time when the arts are underfunded in many schools, Our Lady and the English Martyrs is committed to providing young people with an opportunity for musical and spiritual growth.
The programme is fully subsidised.
The Song School is open by audition to young singers ages 7-17. Prior musical training is not a prerequisite, and the try-out process is informal and fun! Choristers rehearse on Thursday afternoons, from 16.15 to 17.30. This programme represents a unique opportunity as the only Catholic Junior Choir in Cambridge.
If you are interested in learning more about the Song School of Our Lady and the English Martyrs, please contact the Director, Julia Caddick – firstname.lastname@example.org
We welcome singers who would like to serve as a cantor – leading the congregation in the Ordinary of the Mass, Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation at the Saturday (6pm) and Sunday (9:30am) Masses. Full tuition will be provided for those who can read music to a decent standard.
