Introducing the Year of Mercy Pope Francis wrote:
“It is my burning desire that, during this Jubilee, the Christian people may …. rediscover these corporal works of mercy: to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, heal the sick, visit the imprisoned, and bury the dead.”
In response to the refugee crisis at the present time all donations to the Poor Box from Monday 13th June to Sunday 3rd July (including Refugee Week 20th – 26th June 2016) will be passed to Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum for their work with refugees – please be generous.
Hamani lives in a remote village in Niger. Life is incredibly tough there. With longer and hotter dry seasons, it is becoming more difficult to grow crops. Just three years ago drought destroyed much of the harvest Hamani and his neighbours were depending on. Your generosity provided Hamani’s community with enough basic food to keep them alive.
Our Harvest appeal is raising money for our on-going development work with people like Hamani, helping them adapt to the changing climate with tools, training and investment.
Your donations will also help our church partners to respond to the current refugee crisis in Syria, the surrounding countries, and in the refugee camps in Calais.
