Please read this note reporting on the Community Council Meetings of April and May for the Community of Our Lady and the English Martyrs.
OLEM’s Community Council invite you to join them for an Open Meeting in the Parish Centre on Saturday 6 May, following the 18:00 anticipatory Mass.
The agenda for this meeting includes:
*Reports from the Community Council, on:
- social activities;
- evangelisation and formation;
- communications and parish directory;
*Open Forum for ideas, questions and suggestions
*Modified standing orders for approval

The open meeting is followed by Compline, and a party in the rectory.
Each year we have the opportunity to elect four people to our community council.
The community council supports the parish priest in his pastoral responsibility for the community life of members of Our Lady and the English Martyrs church.
We would like to thank those who have been on the council: Michael Keohane, Christine Branch, Ana Luisa Toribio Fierro and Stephen Matthews. Having completed their terms of office there are four places available on our community council.
Please pray for our community and our community council, and please consider if you could serve the church in this way.
Nominations close at 10:00am on Monday 21 November.
If you are a Catholic, have been confirmed, and worship regularly here at English Martyrs church and are interested in serving your community for the next three years, you could be a member of our community council.
> Please pick up and complete a Nomination Form and return it to the Rectory Office before 21 November.
The Community Council has appointed Stephen Matthews as our returning officer, if you have any questions about the election process, please contact Stephen.
> Please check that you are included on our electoral roll (or update your details) so you can vote if the election is contested by multiple candidates.
The Community Meeting that was due to take place on Saturday 18 June at 7:15pm has been postponed.
There will be an extended consultation before we move forward with the proposed changes to Mass times.
Although the 10:45 Mass on Sunday will move to 11:00 and the Polish Mass time will also change as planned. The other masses will not now be changing on 1 July.
We apologise for the short notice, especially if you have cleared your diary to attend this meeting. Members of the Community Council for Our Lady and the English Martyrs will be around following the 6:00pm vigil Mass if you wish to speak to them, and also so they may share these developments with anyone who does not hear in advance that the meeting is cancelled.

The bishop has requested that we have an open meeting after the 6pm Saturday Mass to discuss changing the times of Mass and how they feel about the changes. Changes are being done on the bishop’s mandate.

This meeting will happen in the Parish Centre on the 18 June after the 6:00pm Mass, so starting at 7:15pm with tea and coffee and closing with compline in the church at 8:30pm.
This meeting is not just for those who regularly attend the Saturday evening Mass. All are welcome to attend.
