We encourage you to continue to follow social distancing advice and to respect the wishes and boundaries of other worshippers by using hand sanitiser upon entry and scanning in via the NHS Track & Trace App if you can, and whilst not compulsory, face masks are still encouraged in busy indoor spaces.

We are told that the emphasis is changing from COVID instructions to advice, where each person is responsible for their own conduct and as well as the welfare of others regarding COVID safeguarding.

This will have implications for us as some parishioners may choose to continue with our current provisions whereas others may be prone to returning to pre-COVID conditions. Whatever the case, we must be mindful not to be criticizing people for the decisions they make in this matter. We will be attempting to provide for all with hand sanitizing, cleaning, allowing fresh air into the church and setting aside some parts of the church to allow for social distancing for those who feel that is necessary for them.

We have provided and will continue to provide a safe environment and we simply ask everyone to be aware of other people’s needs in charity. Thank you for your help in continuing to keep OLEM a safe place for all.

Live-streaming Masses will continue for the housebound and those who are ill. The church will be open Mon-Fri 07:00-18:15, Sat 08:00-19:00 and Sun 07:00-20:00.

Holy Communion We ask that people come up to the rails as prior to COVID restrictions and remind you that Holy Communion will continue to be offered under one kind—The Sacred Host—which may be received either on the tongue or in the hand. We do ask that you receive Holy Communion and consume it in the presence of the priest or Extraordinary Minister rather than keeping it in your hand and consuming it on your way back to your place. We must protect the dignity of the Sacrament.

Priests and ministers have been instructed to sanitize their fingers in water provided next to them when someone receives on the tongue as a prudent precaution.
